Something new everyday
Nov. 29th, 2023 03:37 pmSomebody mentioned this (Box Breathing) in my facebook scroll, so I had to look it up.
How to do Box Breathing:
Step 1: Breathe in, counting to four slowly. Feel the air enter your lungs.
Step 2: Hold your breath for 4 seconds. Try to avoid inhaling or exhaling for 4 seconds.
Step 3: Slowly exhale through your mouth for 4 seconds.
Step 4: Repeat steps 1 to 3 until you feel re-centered.
Interesting. This past year I read the book Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art by James Nestor. Life. Changing. I am a mouth breather. My nasal space is kind of small and I feel like I can't get enough air through my nose.
At any rate, breathing practice can be spiritually, mentally and physically helpful and I need to do more.
