I now have a CPAP machine. I can't say I wanted one, but......

I went to an ENT 3 years ago about snoring and found out that
  • I have a deviated septum and may need surgery
  • I am allergic to 30 some things - mostly foods and I should consider weekly shots
  • I have severe sleep apnea and need a CPAP but they are currently on backorder due to a national lawsuit about breathing mold or something
Well all that was enough for me to just say "lets put it all on hold".    Fast forward and my General Practioner says I have a small nasal/breathing path and can see why I need a CPAP and I should go to a Pulmonologist in the area.

I procrastinated, but finally went.  I did a new at home test and it confirmed severe sleep apnea.
  • 415 hypopnia events
  • but only 50 of not breathing
  • Average 52/hour. Severe. Anything over 5 is apnea
  • My oxygen level went as low as 72 percent
Geez Louise.  So now I own a ResMed CPAP machine that comes with an app on my phone to track and monitor.  I have scored in the 90's every night (out of perfect 100), rating events (5-7 per night), mask leakage, sleep time.

I guess I did not realize how bad I was sleeping.   Plus I have been on meds for high blood pressure for years with no real clarification of why other than I could stand to lose some weight.  But my parents were overweight and did not have high blood pressure.

Anywho.   I feel better.  I am sleep better.  I am thinking clearer.   I can get more done.    So sleep mask blowing air at me at night it is.   Who knew?
